Captain Noah Warren Reveals Why Invincible Dominates Offshore
Making a living on the water, at any level, is not for the faint of heart. For Captain Noah Warren, owner and operator of Blue Ocean Sportfishing in San Diego, California, the daily grind is one that hinges on passion, knowledge, perseverance, and a rock-solid boat beneath his feet. Aboard his Invincible catamaran, Noah has become one of the foremost offshore charter captains in Southern California, guiding anglers to monster swordfish, bluefin tuna, and more, often 100+ miles offshore. To do this day in and day out is challenging work, and Noah credits his Invincible Cat with always being up for the challenge. We sat down with Noah to gain his perspective on his vessel and what it means to him.
What initially drew you to choose an Invincible over other high-performance center consoles?
“Out here on the West Coast, our pursuit of trophy tuna takes us up to 140 miles offshore. The Catamaran’s performance translates directly to efficiency — more time pursuing what matters on the water, less time getting there and back. What was once a multi-day commitment becomes a single day trip.”
How has your Invincible's performance in rough conditions changed your offshore range or fishing strategies?
“This boat has been an absolute game-changer. Our offshore range and fishing strategies have been expanded exponentially with its fuel capacity and ride in rough weather. Our cat allows us to give our clients an unforgettable experience each and every season no matter what the Pacific throws at us.”
What impressed you most about how the boat handled?
“The stability and softness of the ride is incredible. We got our boat at the tail end of the season with only a few weeks left to make it count. The big bluefin were 138 miles northwest of San Diego and they were biting. Having only fished the boat within 20 miles of shore the first few days, I got the call and checked the weather — 6-foot seas and 20+ knots of wind. Most people stayed home that day. We put the bow straight into it and could not believe how fast we were able to skip over the chop like it was nothing.
We traveled 350 miles that day and came home with a 200-pounder in the box. Since then, I’ve been incredibly confident in my Invincible’s ability to get me and my crew to the fish and back home safely and comfortably.”
When clients or fellow captains step aboard your Invincible for the first time, what features consistently catch their attention?
“When people step on my boat for the first time, they are amazed at the space we have. The fishability and the big boat features like the seating, fish storage, bait capacity, and overall performance always impress. Even friends who run competitor boats are mind-blown at the build quality, as well as the ride.”
How has the hull design and stability impacted your ability to pursue specific species or fishing techniques?
“The ride, performance, and comfort this hull delivers allows me to chase these big bluefin tuna in rougher conditions and more distant venues than ever before. The range our cat gives us is the only reason we can make these trips happen in a single day.”
What's the farthest offshore run you've made in your Invincible, and what gave you the confidence to push that boundary?
“150 miles one way. I have so much confidence in my Invincible hull paired with twin Mercury Verados that I didn’t even have to think twice before making the call to chase those fish. As a captain, knowing that my boat is capable of getting to these distant fisheries changed everything for me.”
After years of ownership, what design element or build quality feature has proven most valuable to your specific needs?
“Invincible’s catamaran performance has proven to be an asset in itself. This is not an easy fishery, and it takes a serious vessel to do this day in and day out. More specifically, I still find myself admiring the amount of live bait capacity and insulated storage I have on this boat.”
Tell us about a moment when your Invincible's performance made the difference between an average day and an exceptional catch.
“Swordfishing last year. We spent the day deep dropping close to home. There was good feed and the fish were in the zone. We missed our first 2 bites (in our neck of the woods, you’re lucky to get one bite per trip) and finally hooked our third. It was a 450-pound sword that we had in the boat after a two-hour fight. The Invincible’s maneuverability and quick response with each throttle movement allowed me to stay on top of the fish while the client was on the rod, giving him the best chance for success.”
How has your Invincible changed your clients' experience compared to previous vessels?
“The transformation in client experience comes down to fundamentals: less time traveling means more time pursuing what matters. These 100+ mile journeys wouldn’t be possible as day trips without the efficiency and stability engineered into every Invincible catamaran. For clients, this means accessing trophy fishing grounds and still returning to shore each evening—expanding what’s possible in a single day on the water.”
If you were speaking to someone considering their first Invincible, what aspect of ownership would you tell them not to overlook?
“I would tell them to never overlook what they really need out of a boat. Whether it’s your job or your passion, or both, offshore fishing can be a difficult undertaking, to say the least. Having a boat that you can not only enjoy, but also trust, is such an important part of chasing this passion. Going with a company like Invincible opens a heck of a lot of doors on the water. Speed, comfort, range, storage, and resale are just a few of the attributes that come to mind.”
